We are looking for a top-notch Commercial Estimator to add to our team. Create quantitative estimates for preconstruction services focused on glass and glazing.
This is a full-time, permanent position with a competitive salary and benefits package. You will be based at our headquarters in Marietta Ga. and work directly with senior management.
KEY DELIVERABLES • Foster an environment of diversity, equity, and inclusion. • Knowledge and understanding of commercial construction ranging in costs from $100,000 to $100 Million. • Ability to perform quantity takeoff estimates for all relevant trades • Utilize estimating software • Ability to read and understand project plans and specifications specific to glass and glazing • Assist with hard bid/low bid project assembly. • Approve project proposals/estimate packages prior to presentation. • Value engineering concepts as required for projects. • Proper management of workload so that all estimates are complete, thorough, on time and all deadlines are met. • Maintain proper tracking of all projects/estimates in WFD’s software management system. • Support Project Managers as principal in key meetings. • Assist in authorizing RFP’s • Structure and review hand-off package to Project manager for awarded projects. • Assist in establishment of owner contracts • Establish and maintain new relationships with subcontractors and suppliers. • Establish and maintain new relationships with architect and engineering firms. • Maintain a high degree of integrity, loyalty and honesty; not divulging confidential information pertaining to the company’s operations or bids to outside parties.
TYPE OF WORKING ENVIRONMENT
The work environment for this position is a mix of a typical office environment and visits to construction project sites (minimal). When in the office, the physical demands require the ability to sit (or standing desk) for long periods of time. Intermittent movement will be necessary to perform requirements of the position such as accessing centrally located office equipment.
Visits to construction project sites may involve travel and overnight stays. Site visits may subject the individual to hazards commonly associated with construction sites. Examples of physical hazards include noise, proximity to moving vehicles, atmospheric conditions, close quarters, uneven surfaces, and elevated surfaces. The individual may also be subjected to outside environmental conditions (weather) where protection may not be available. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including foot protection, hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, high visibility vest and/ or other special clothing to be worn as required on the project at all times.
NECESSARY TRAVEL: < 10%
OCCASIONAL LIFTING: Less than 25 lbs
QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Construction related program, but not required • 5+ years of related Preconstruction/Estimating experience • Ability to communicate in a professional manner with a broad range of people in the construction industry • Must possess the ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks • Must possess superior oral and written communication and interpersonal skills • Must have a working knowledge of MS Office, including strong skills in Excel, Word, Outlook and Project • Maintain a high degree of integrity, loyalty and honesty • Must have the ability and desire to attend onsite meetings, where applicable • Minor travel may be required from time to time
