This position is responsible for leading and managing plant-wide efforts regarding quality, process control, productivity, cost, and continuous improvements.
Leads the overall plant goals in all areas including safety, quality, productivity, and cost. Coordinates and directs the overall quality system and processes to promote continuous improvement and ensure customer satisfaction.
Utilizes and “champions” statistical process control (SPC) including six sigma, LEAN, etc. as part of the overall continual improvement efforts.
Leads crew coaches and primary associates to meet established goals and objectives in accordance with plant policies and procedures.
Creates an incident-free culture and workplace. Promotes and maintains positive employee morale and engagement.
Promote and maintain MW/MB safety goals and ensure a safe work environment for all employees. Leads safety and housekeeping efforts and corrective actions within assigned projects and areas. Exemplifies safety in all actions and leads by example.
Leads and manages the plant’s quality system by implementing and monitoring quality control procedures and SPC methods for both incoming raw materials and finished product.
Promotes a prevention-oriented and data-driven quality system and culture.
Ensures customer satisfaction and investigates all customer quality complaints identifying root cause and implementing corrective action.
Maintains communication with the customer through reporting and site visits.
Stimulate and maintain associate interest in producing the highest quality products through training and communication; ensures the on-going development and creation of primary associate’s continuous improvement efforts and teams.
Leads the statistical process control (SPC) efforts and trains associates in its use.
Leads and directs the processes of the plant including batch, furnace, fiber forming, sizing, and pack-out. Works with engineers and entire organization to promote continuous improvement in the areas of safety, quality, production efficiencies, and cost reduction.
Ensures control charts are utilized in process areas including incoming materials, batch, glass chemistry, furnace, fiber forming, sizing, and glass physical properties. Ensures processes are in control, eliminating special causes, while reducing common cause variation.
Ensures furnace is operated safely, efficiently, and in a manner that optimizes its working life. Communicates with our technology and services partner and technical advisors in all process areas. Ensures positive working relationship with our technology and services partner while ensuring timely technical exchanges.
Manages and distributes reports for quality and process metrics including daily, weekly and monthly reports.
Leads the coaches and primary associates to safely meet established goals and objectives while maximizing safety, production efficiency, and quality. Identifies opportunities for safety, productivity, and quality improvements and takes appropriate action.
Leads the safety and housekeeping effort within department. Assists in accident investigations and eliminating root cause. Ensures the entire plant is “tour” ready at all times.
Leads and manages crew coaches ensuring consistency and communications within and between shifts. Ensures proper recordkeeping and adherence to policies and MW/MB performance counseling process.
Leads the primary employee training effort through proper planning, scheduling, and coordination. Ensures training of new and cross-training employees as well as required up-date training. Continually ensures crew coaches’ professional development. Promotes and maintains positive employee morale and engagement.
Writes and maintains job instructions, policies, and procedures. Ensure most recent document is always in place with proper training and sign-off.
Coordinate and team with Human Resources on staffing and counseling of hourly associates.
Ensures proper and most efficient and cost effective staffing.
